I believe that an educated society benefits us all. Failure to provide enough funding for education will store up problems for the UK in the future. But it’s not just about the funding, the education system itself needs reviewing.
Teachers are under immense pressure and must be given the time and space needed to discover and inspire our children’s passions. This, in turn, will enable our children to reach their potential in the future.
As a Green Party MP I would:
- Scrap university tuition fees.
- Promote a comprehensive system of local schools offering mixed ability teaching staffed by qualified teachers.
- Bring Academies and Free Schools into the Local Authority system.
- Abolish Ofsted.
- Abolish SATs and league tables.
